Sarah Rier - Sarah Rier is our Office Administrator. Sarah is highly organized, hardworking and helpful. She supports the staff and students par excellence. She has a big smile and huge heart. She loves to laugh, spend time with her family and dog, and travel.

Janice Blake-Johnson - Janice is beloved at City School by staff, parents and students alike. She’s an experienced and skilled teacher with an extensive knowledge of science. She is friendly and helpful, and very patient. She teaches a range of courses including Intermediate Science, and Senior Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Lesley Bunbury - Les is excited to join the team at City School as the Acting Curriculum Leader and Guidance Counselor. Les comes to us from Contact Alternative School and, prior to Alt9, Northern Secondary School. She studied Politics and History at Queens University and holds a MA in dance from York University. By day she will be teaching English, Leadership and History; by night she is mom to two busy little girls. 

Ariadny Fragos - Ariadny was a student at TheStudentSchool, so she felt City would be a good fit as a teacher. Her first year went well - she brought creativity, stability and vitality to the Art program, including Photography, which is her passion. She has been taking photos since she was a child. She “loves the creative process and contributing towards shared spaces, the exchange of ideas, growth, meaningful conversations and laughter.”

Dan PittDan teaches Math, Biology Food & Nutrition, and Environmental Science. He loves Montreal, plays a beboppin' alto sax, has tons of friends and has made it clear he could also make a living playing pool. He wears his love for City School on his sleeve, and makes all his students feel welcomed.

Barb Sniderman - Barb has worked in film & television, traveled extensively; run marathons; danced, biked and trapezed her way to fitness; and developed programs for learning through literacy and film study. She teaches Aboriginal Studies, Drama, Humanities, and Integrated Arts. She is our EcoSchools guru and Grade 9 Den Mother.

Whitney Baker - Whitney teaches Phys Ed, Geography and Social Sciences. He has many interests outside of school - including travel, film, music, and technology - that he brings into the classroom. He frequenty facilitates workshops for the TDSB on the use of Google classroom.

And worth mentioning 

Ashley Goertz - Ashley joins us this semester as a Long Term Occasional Teacher and we’re delighted. She is very excited to be at City School. She started her teaching career over 10 years ago in Daegu, South Korea and returned home to complete her B.Ed and M.Ed at OISE. Outside of work she's involved in a book club, a running club, and Scouts Canada. She spends the rest of her time playing and exploring the outdoors with her two little people.

Ian Esquivel - Ian is our Curriculum Leader and Guidance Counselor. He returned to City School after 25 years in the mainstream. During that time, he was a Department Head; President of the Toronto Council of Teachers of English; Literacy/Media Instructional Leader; wrote and taught AQ courses at OISE; and studied Communications at Concordia. Ian is on Leave this year but will return in September  2020.
